I have a theory, that even the biggest assholes you encounter in your life are loved by someone. They may be a complete dickhead boss, who goes home and is some kid's sweet daddy, or a total bitch that has a grandma who thinks the world of them. Even if you have to stretch to pets being the source of unconditional love for the wretched, it holds true.
