I know you're in a third world country, you're all very poor, and he availability of vehicles is limited. But there is also the strength of numbers, and you've got like a thousand people piled onto that truck. For a dollar a piece (that's just one dollar from one US tourist), you could probably buy a second truck. Or at least get a bunch of bikes and lash them to a wagon like a dog sled.
